Well, I'm finally home from San Diego. Lots I could talk about. This year's meeting was as hectic as always (pretty much 9-9 every day), but was one of the better ones for me in recent memory. First there was the hotel -- not the one for ETS (for those traveling to...

Someone in Israel is Attacking Me and It’s Funny, Uninformed, and Dishonest
That's how these things usually go. When I checked my email this morning I saw that a friend had sent me this piece of nonsense: someone behind a blog called "NARWatch" in Israel is attacking me and my content. Normally I don't even read these. There haven't been...
What is the Bible’s Big Story? Part 9
This is Part 9 of a guest series by Dr. Ronn Johnson. My last post concluded with the recommendation that the primary effect of Jesus’ death when viewed in priestly terms (that is, when we speak of Jesus dying as a sacrifice) found him making an already-righteous...
What Is Spiritual Warfare? Mike’s (Brief) Take
This question is asked of me so often that I've decided to post an *unedited* excerpt from my forthcoming Demons book (due out sometime in 2019 -- it's in editorial now). Here's a brief take on the issue; part of a larger discussion: What is spiritual warfare-from...
The Bible’s Big Story, Part 8
This is Part 8 of the guest blog series by Dr. Ronn Johnson. The archive of previous installments is located here. I ended my last post by painting myself into a theological corner. In wondering what to do with the brick which says Jesus’ priestly work (atonement,...
Taking Genesis 1-3 at Face Value: Is it Compatible with Recent Genome Research?
[Addendum 7/27/2012: I hope readers will have a look at the comments on this post when they are done reading the post. There are some good, coherent questions asked. I hope readers will see that these questions only *appear* problematic *since* they are asked from the...

Hope you all aren't getting bored with this. For those interested, Dan McClellan has posted a response on his blog to my thoughts on his SBL paper of last year. You can all go read it in full. I'm taking a few moments here to add "rejoinder thoughts" to his most...
Beginning a Serious Discussion about Inerrancy
I've been thinking about inerrancy a good bit lately--not whether I want to surrender it, or whether it's a term that has any value or not. My thoughts have focused on the Peter Enns dismissal from Westminster. I think they made the wrong decision, and the reasoning...
All I Want for Christmas is Another Flawed Nephilim Rebuttal
A week or so ago I blogged about Dr. Peter Gentry’s attempt to divorce the Nephilim from the supernatural sons of God via a YouTube video he created. His argument isn’t coherent because it implodes on itself, as I noted. In more recent days (Is there some reason the...
Gandalf and His Ministry Going Forward
Many of you will know that by “Gandalf” I’m referring to myself. The label came about some years ago during an interview about how I view the believing Christian world (the Christianity that is rooted in the actual gospel) functions in three realms, one of which is...
A Tale of Two Unseen Realm Reviews
My bestselling book, The Unseen Realm: Recovering the Supernatural Worldview of the Bible, was recently reviewed in two places online. The book has been positively reviewed in academic outlets, evangelical or otherwise, since its debut in 2015 (JETS, Themelios, RBL)....
Response to Dr. Thomas Howe’s Thoughts on The Unseen Realm
I’ve been asked by a couple of people to respond to Thomas Howe’s thoughts on The Unseen Realm. For those unfamiliar with Dr. Howe, he teaches apologetics at Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, a school deservedly well known for important work in that field....
