More clear theological thinking from the catholic church. Honestly, this is muddled in so many ways: from baptismal regeneration to the failure to read the clear words of Romans 5:12, that it is HUMANITY that is morally guilty and in need of atonement for the sin of a HUMAN. Just stupefying.

    Relax, this was an interview with a journalist, not a papal encyclical. He may very well have been joking.
    But it’s nice to see clerics body slam intelligent design.

      I know, but this position appears in journals as well, in articles written by catholic scholars.

    Nice post! What do you think of Marie George’s work (“ET Meets Jesus Christ”, “Christianity and Extraterrestrials”)? She seems to support your point (although she uses Hebrews 2:14 as the crux and Romans to back it up), despite (I assume) having a somewhat different understanding of the theology of baptism.
