Why Use the Septuagint?

by drmsheiser | Sep 3, 2009

I found this on the Logos blog today. It’s something I wrote for the Logos blog in 2007, and I don’t think I ever posted it here.  Forgot I even wrote it (I’m doing some LXX thinking today at work so I found it via Google!).  Here’s the short article — it addresses the “law dispensed by angels” idea in the NT, something that isn’t in the traditional Hebrew text, but IS suggested by the LXX.

Editor’s note: replaced broken link with the repost of the article.

is that why Paul (if im not mistaken) said that if any other message is received from an angel, it should be condenmed?

    Galatians 1:8 (New International Version)
8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!

a@rode: Interesting idea, and I think it’s related to some degree. Angels were common mediators in Jewish literature, including the Bible (Scripture or not – perhaps just messenging), and so Paul went to the “nth” degree to warn his readers.
