PEERANORMAL Podcast Episode 1: Introducing the Show

by drmsheiser | Mar 3, 2016

The inaugural episode of PEERANORMAL is now live.

PEERANORMAL is not just another podcast about the paranormal. It has a significant twist. As this first episode explains, PEERANORMAL introduces listeners to peer-reviewed research on all things generally considered paranormal: ghosts, PSI, ESP, NDEs, OBEs, UFOs, Forteana, alien abduction, cryptozoology, etc. Believe it or not, real research in real labs by real scientists and scholars gets published every year on all these topics and more.

In other words, other podcasts about the paranormal do speculation. PEERANORMAL is where listeners learn what’s real and what isn’t, and what credible researchers are doing to investigate the paranormal. Listen as we introduce the hosts (we will be adding other co-hosts) and the sorts of research and discussion you can expect.

We plan to do a show every month or two. Please subscribe to one of the feeds and support the podcast.

Oh my goodness!!!!! Thank you! I have been on this path for so long alone, but I must say I’ve been able to figure out a lot on my own. Is there someone I could share my experiences with, that would be interested in hearing them?
I’m very careful who I share with, but it would be nice to speak with others who have had similar experiences. Thank you.
Also wanting to recognizing the value in this type of research, which you explain during this pod cast. Again, thank you!
p.s. Your book “The Unseen Realm” is Superb.

Congratulations! …listening to the podcast now. Looking forward to the ride.

      Thanks!

I would love it if these episodes ever got transcripts. Because… I just don’t have time to sit and listen to people talk, but I love reading. Importantly: I can read WAY faster than people talk. If it’s a transcript of a talk, I can skim through the unimportant chatter. If someone on a show is just spouting gibberish, I get past it in a hurry. (Much, much, much of ANY ‘podcast’ or radio show is wasted words–people just kind of hemming and hawing around, unnecessary introductions, starting to say something then backtracking… all of which drives me crazy and I can’t listen to it.)

    • MSH

not sure they will be transcribed; we’ll see.

If have a hearing loss and so I agree, hearing and reading together is truly the only way I consume all the information. Love this feature on the naked bible.

What a terrific and original idea Dr. Heiser. Just in time for spring and summer seaside listening. Thank you very much.

A episode on the shroud of Turin would be fascinating!

    • MSH

      you’re welcome!

This was really cool Mike, I am excited about the next one.

Is it possible to link me to the study on Dog anticipation of owners getting home? I have access to papers through university.

    • MSH

That’s going to be the next topic, but email me for the links if you want them early.

I’m super excited about this new podcast!

I’ll listen to this one tomorrow, sounds really interesting.
I seriously need to invest in a DeLorean and some plutonium, or maybe a police call box. Too much stuff to learn. Need more time!

What an incredible idea! I just subscribed. Gosh. Get some sleep for once in your life, Mike.

That’s a good idea. I have gone on deep dives in JSTOR and other places looking for scholarly papers on UFOs.

Right now I’m reading two recent papers by historian Greg Eghigian, who claims to be writing “a global history of the alien contact phenomena.”

very interesting – I’ll look for his material. Have you read Gulyas’ book (Extraterrestrials and the American Zeitgeist)? It seems to attempt the (American) history on a small scale.

@msheiser thank you…enjoying so much of what is on YouTube, first saw you in Ancient Aliens then onto your own vids and interview (Peck) more recently Twitter, podcasts lately. Especially the peer reviewed listed topics. A phrase popped into my head from 10-15 years ago…intellectual property…God bless you as you share!!!

    • MSH

      thanks!

    Great beginning!
No idea where this is going.
    I’m in.

    Thanks/Best.

I am sure ( if you felt comfortable ) you could share your experiences here on this thread. Mike would kick off anyone who was nasty I am sure.

I think most of us like to hear the different experiences people have regarding the paranormal.

    Peace.

    Chris.

I can ask a friend who is great at typing, but need permission first.

    Hey there Mike.

One of the studies you linked me to ( in regards to “animal telepathy”, which is my preferred term now ) gave me some great inspiration for my own experiment.

I am going to take a time lapse video of my dogs in their kennels. I will set the video to record 20 minutes before I intend to go out and will leave it for 20 minutes after I get home. I will go out for 20 minutes on the first experiment and may try other variants, depending on the outcome.

I will be happy to share the video here so people can make their own assessments of the footage and its possible implications.

Hopefully I will get the video recorded tomorrow, and up to you tube in next couple of days.

    Peace.

    Chris.

      sounds like fun!

This makes me wonder a bit about the Unseen Realm book and whether you will be making any correlations/speculations during Peeranormal podcasts. (Demons, rephaim, etc.)

  17. MSH

Not really planning to up front, but once it gets started, I could see that. For example, there are anecdotal accounts (connected with remote viewing experiments or personnel) about contact with “entities” or “intelligences” when engaged in remote viewing. For this podcast, though, what I’d want to find is some mention of that in the literature (even if that literature were de-classified govt documents). If I/we find that, then if the people involved were still around, that would make for a good interview.

Great podcast, Mr, Heiser! I can’t wait to hear more in the future. As a science teacher I truly enjoy when people explore these concepts that have already been investigated scientifically.

I’ve had one of “those” experiences myself that had more to do the the supernatural realm than any kind of UFO experience and it wasn’t just me alone it took place with my now ex-wife right next to me who experienced it as well. It was nothing “major” but after my mother had passed my ex-mother-in-law who had a business of preserving flowers made a display of a flower arrangement that was at my mother’s funeral. After we received the display case with the flowers in it my ex-wife and I were observing the flowers very closely when all of a sudden both of us, at the same time, could smell cigarette smoke by the display. The smell was the exact same smell of my mother’s favorite brand of cigarettes. I quickly moved and the smell was gone but when I was about 12″ from the flowers it was there again. My ex tried the same thing and confirmed it. We lived in an apartment but it was a smoke free building and after looking outside quickly and checking out neighbor there was no one smoking. Again the smell was in a small sphere around the display. After about 5 minutes the smell was gone and never returned. Of course the mind races to create a story or explanation about what happened “she came to visit and see the flowers; she saw the flowers and said good-bye; etc.” but I found no other explanation and with things like this to do it in a “scientific method kind of a way” I couldn’t have it repeatable or measurable and thus it became an anecdote to tell my kids.

    • MSH

Interesting; I’ve read a number of stories like this, so you aren’t alone there!

    • MSH

We were going to record #2 last week, but Natalina had a conflict, so we’re rescheduling.

  19. Michelle

At the end of this intro podcast, you and Natalie were on the subject of dogs knowing when owners would be home. I have another animal experience to share and this happens all the time with me and other horse owners that I know. I will be busy in the house and will feel the need to look out the window at my horses. One or the other of them will be staring intently toward the house (this happens at least twice a year). The thought will come to my mind to check their water. Yep, dead squirrel in the trough or the trough is empty. Weird, huh? Lol

    • MSH

funny — they’re expecting some action!

  20. haibane13

This is what Coast to Coast should be .

  21. haibane13

Remote Viewing would be a good topic, not sure if there are any peer review studies on it though .

    • MSH

      There is such material.
