I was fortunate to spend some time with Derek and Sharon Gilbert last week in Missouri. One of the things we talked about briefly was Annie Jacobsen's work. I highly recommend her books Area 51: An Uncensored History of America's Top Secret Military Base and Operation...

Another Ancient Alien Fail: Moving 300 Ton Stones to Build China’s Forbidden City
The Live Science blog reported recently that Jiang Li, an engineer at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, has successfully translated an ancient Chinese document that reveals how stones in excess of 300 tons were moved over 70 miles without the wheel to...
What To Do With Christian UFO Researchers Who Ape Ancient Astronaut Thinking
[Addendum: 10/22/2013 - I have been in correspondence with one of the researchers mentioned in Jason Colavito's post. That individual tells me that research is underway in regard to some of the claims Jason criticized, and that I will receive a copy of the results of...
Robert Ripley: A More Honest Showman Than Steven Greer
I just blogged this over at UFO Religions so I thought I'd reproduce this here. >> In the latest twist to the Steven Greer ET disclosure shell game (hat tip to BK), Greg Newkirk of the Who Forted? blog and Lee Spiegel of the Huffington Post (photo credit for the...
Betty Hill’s Star Map vs. Real Astronomy
From time to time I see the idea of actual intelligent ET visitation defended on the basis of the Betty and Barney Hill abduction -- specifically, on the basis of the "star map" that Betty Hill allegedly saw while on board the alien space ship during her abduction....
Elementary, Dr. Watson? Is the New “Wife of Jesus” Text a Fake?
As a couple of readers here and over at my Naked Bible blog have brought up the recent proposal that the Coptic text in question is a fake, I thought I would direct readers to this short (6 pp.) explanation from Prof. Francis Watson as to how he thinks it was done....
Can Christianity Accommodate An Extraterrestrial Reality? Dr. Heiser’s 2003 God, Man, ET Lecture
I just came across my lecture from the 2003 God, Man, and ET Conference on YouTube. The event was hosted at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. I participated in the planning of the event. Aside from myself, the speakers were Dr. Hugh Ross, Dr. Paul Nelson, Richard...
Of Sophistry and Antagonism Toward Fine-Tuning
I found this recent post entitled, "Is This the Dumbest Ever 'Refutation' of the Fine-Tuning Argument Ever?" worth the read (and a bit funny). It's about some very poor thinking on the part of British philosopher Anthony Grayling with respect to his disdain of the...
Atheism as UFO Religion, Part 2
I've found a second atheist's commentary on "belief" in UFOs. Atheist: The belief in God(s) is purely and simply based in faith, no matter what religion you come from. Faith is defined simply as belief in something without evidence or proof. MSH: This is actually an...
Night Terrors and Sleep Paralysis
Nick Redfern recently posted something on night terrors put together by Tim Binnall. Interesting reading, but there was a curious omission. Binnall's work (at least in this installment) neglects to mention the major scholarly work on night terrors and its relation...
More on Wally Wallington – The Guy Who Moves Monolithic Blocks by Himself
Kudos to V. Glitschka for sending me this YouTube Video of Mr. Wallington. It's worth watching - especially the few-second scene of him rotating an entire building by himself using his simple technology (It's at about 2:05 of the video). Sorry, no aliens appear in the...
Charges of Racism Related to the Atacama (Non) Alien
The Atlantic just published this interesting short article on the Atacama "alien" -- a subject I have blogged about several times: "The Controversial Study of a Girl Who Ufologists Called ‘Alien’." As to the racism element, you can read the article -- the short...
Update on Jaime Maussan’s Phony Peruvian Alien Mummy
If you're following this story, this post from Archaeology Review is quite worthwhile: A Review of Jaime Maussan’s Alien Mummy from Peru. The highlight is an X-Ray of the three-fingered alien hand hoax perpetrated by Maussan. Here's a portion of the essay on that...
More Flat Earth Debunking from the PseudoAstronomy Podcast
Stuart Robbins has added to the work he's already done on his podcast. Stuart takes us through more about how young earth creationists also oppose the flat earth nonsense. Anyone who has listened to Stuart before knows he's not a YEC or creationist. His point here is...
Sleep Paralysis and Alien Abduction
A few months ago my PEERANORMAL podcast did an episode on the phenomenon of sleep paralysis. As is our format, I and the other hosts read several peer-reviewed articles about the topic and discussed them. Below is an article we didn't discuss, as the episode wasn't...
